Teaming Up to Support Gifted Students’ Best Practice Guidelines for Schools and Programs
Linda Smith
Gifted programs are generally a positive force in young people’s lives. Although participation is not mandatory, the vast majority of students who are identified as gifted opt to participate in the programs offered by their district, many of which involve students leaving the regular school program and attending another room or site for part of the school day or week. This pull-out program design provides students with the opportunity to meet and interact with other gifted students and engage in studies that are specifically tailored to their special aptitudes and subject-matter interests.
